The occurrence of a misfortune is always something very trying. Sometimes we don't even have the words to translate concretely the compassion that we want to convey to the main concerned so much the events sometimes exceed our understanding, and sometimes pushes us to ask ourselves questions which can lead us to lose what is most precious, faith.

How can you make the world believe that everything will be fine, or that everything is fine when he has the clear impression that everything is going wrong and that his misfortunes are not ready to stop? Men ask themselves questions and they wait for God to answer them. If He's really good why does He allow this to happen to me? Doesn't He see that I am one of his faithful servants? Why, instead of the joy that I expect from Him it is rather a succession of daily sorrows? Why so much crime in the world? Why so much injustice? The questions never cease. They go in all directions to the point of making some believe that they are more children of God than others.

The temptation to believe oneself better than others

“It was then that Jesus was made aware of a massacre of the Galileans: Pilate had shed their blood where they sacrificed their victims. Jesus then said to them: [do you believe that these Galileans were more sinners than all the other Galileans for having had this fate? No, I tell you; but if you do not convert, you will all perish alike!]”

Why do some people lose their lives in traffic accidents and not others? Why did some people lose their lives in a landslide and not others? Why did some people lose their lives in train accidents and not others? Weren't those who lost their lives also believers?

Men is very often tempted to give thanks to God for having preserved Him from evil, to the point of believing, and sometimes making believe that those who did not have the same grace as Him were not also children of God. A true prayer of thanksgiving must also have a pious thought for those who have not had the same privilege, and not only be an occasion to militate in favour of a particular Church, or of a Men of God especially. How can my testimony respect the memory of some, and support the faith of others? How can he help others to no longer be afraid of death, however tragic it may be? How can he help others to no longer be ashamed of the real cause of the disappearance of a loved one? What meaning do we give to the multiple benefits that God allows us to experience?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2019, more than seven hundred thousand people (700,000) lost their lives following suicide for various causes. In Cameroon, again for multiple undetailed causes, the suicide rate increased from 4.9% to 12.2% per 1000 inhabitants between 2012 and 2016.

It is to provide a solution to this global problem that the WHO has developed measures to help countries in the prevention and care linked to suicides because the rates continue to grow, and can only be counted in terms of estimates due to the shame they arouse in the minds. The reasons that may justify the causes of a suicide do not only come down to our beliefs and aprioris. We are always ready to dramatize and make rash judgments about situations that we do not know because we have gotten into the habit of being satisfied with appearances rather than trying to find out if another cause may justify such an act. Always the first to look for a way to harm others and always the first to be surprised that the world is evil. If God can allow Men to go through difficult times that does not mean that all difficulties come from Him. It is in this incessant tumult created by Men Himself that God presents Himself daily, not to condemn anyone, but to remind us that the most important thing is not the cause of a death, but the urgency of conversion even for those who have the privilege of having become a child of God through Jesus-Christ.
