les droits des homosexuels en Afrique

The answers to the question of how to live with another who could compromise our originality are all the more interesting because they create divisions between those who are not in favour of cohabitation for traditional reasons and those who are in favour of an unnatural phenomenon which should not constitute a sufficient reason to impede the fundamental freedoms of an individual.

Humanity has been draining for several centuries a reality that characterizes it and which has always created tensions to which it must provide adequate solutions, taking into account the cultural context, the dignity of each individual and the rights that each State is ready to granted to certain communities.

Africa is not ready yet!

L'Homosexualité en Afrique

According to information collected by the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, abbreviated as Ilga, an organization that campaigns for respect for human rights for all, homosexuality would be legalized in 9% of African Territory, decriminalized in 42% of the Territory and penalized in 49% of the Territory. Despite the fact that several countries have chosen to legalize or decriminalize homosexuality, Africa is not yet ready to accept it. Why? Because this practice goes against its traditions. This point of view, which may shock defenders of the LGBT cause, should not be considered as a form of radicalism or discrimination but as a reaction which reflects the concern of a group of people concerned with preserving their cultures from all tendencies to want encourage a life of couple between people of the same sex. The many unfortunate incidents that have occurred in Africa and in Cameroon in particular where several people suspected of homosexuality have been lynched by rebellious populations, reflect the point of view of a people who are not yet ready to accept certain practices publicly or not. These reactions which are not commendable reflect in fact a deeper hostility towards those who have chosen to hide behind Homosexuality to practice pederasty and sodomy to derive evil profits. Does this mean that we must legalize homosexuality, that is to say, the tendency to prefer love and sexual relations man-man for men, and woman-woman for women, and penalize pederasty and sodomy which are respectively criminal acts which consist for an adult in sexually abusing a child for pleasure or profit on the one hand, and causing a person to no longer be able to perform a bowel movement properly at cause of a disproportionate sexual activity very often against a very strong reward? No way! Young people must be protected from anything that could open the door to pernicious circles or to the adoption of choices whose consequences will be detrimental to the person's future. If no one chooses to become homosexual at birth, the lack of affectivity, the influence of the environment and the choice of experiencing new forms of sensations can lead an individual to become homosexual, bisexual or develop in him one gender at the same time female and male. The African and the Cameroonian in particular cannot come out in favour of homosexuality because it is a choice that would go against the cultural values that have been transmitted to him and that he must maintain intact to better retransmit. If as human beings homosexuals have rights, they also have the duty to respect the cultural values of the countries where they want their rights to be legislated. A global problem is not the concern of a single continent. It is because Africa feels concerned that it largely responds to requests from the LGBT community on the basis of what has always been, while respecting what is accepted elsewhere. Western societies are very advanced in understanding and accepting what African societies are not yet ready to accept and understand even if they are against any acts of violence or discriminatory against homosexuals in particular. Africa respects and will continue to do its utmost to guarantee and respect the freedom of every individual while hoping that those who are not proud of the way gay people are treated in Africa will also respect his choice not to legalize a trend that goes against his traditions. Freedom does not give us the right to disseminate propaganda that sells the merits of an unnatural phenomenon everywhere; if we must respect Men as a human being, his acts can also be considered reprehensible within Territories where his choices does not fit with the values defended by States which are not yet ready to legitimize them.
