During an evangelization campaign, a Christian told one of her interlocutors that it is not only to Men and even less to her that the power of persuasion belongs but rather to the Holy Spirit of God who is in her.
His interlocutor asked him: how is it that you are doing a work of evangelization work which is also a call to conversion and you say that it is not you who is acting? She answered him by saying: it is me and the Holy Spirit in me. So it's you anyway? Asked his interlocutor! I cannot act by myself she replied! The servant acts in the name of a master who gives the grace of conversion to whomever He wishes. While it is true that I act in the name of God, it is not I who lead the person to change or to respond favourably to the call addressed to him.
The different terrains and the acceptance of the word of God
Whether Christian, Muslim, Jew and others, the child of God is called to proclaim God's salvation in a well-disposed, ill-disposed, refractory, unbelieving and sadistic world. Not everyone receives the word of God in the same way. There are some who convert immediately after hearing it while others prefer to put off their conversion or simply refuse to be persuaded. But what message is it and for what purpose? It is not necessarily for a Christian to try to convert non-Christians and vice versa. It is a question of preaching by acts which truly reflect the goodness and the omnipotence of the one whom we have chosen to serve, not necessarily so that the other embraces the same religious obedience as us, but so that our way of life be a daily sign of God's love in the world.
He who has a good seed of love in him is called to work so that this seed bears more fruit in his environment. The conversion of sinners interests a child of God in particular and every citizen in general because one has lived an experience of love that he wants to share with others so that they may be in communion with him, and the other because he must contribute to social cohesion and peace in the world and his country in particular. Even if the world does not always receive favourably what we want to share with it, this should not prevent us from continuing to do what we have to do with the help of the Holy Spirit.
